Capabilities built around the operation

ProviCost is an operational platform built specifically for fresh produce processors. Its capabilities are being developed around the information created as produce moves through the business — from purchasing and receiving to stock, production and profitability.

Not every part of that journey is at the same stage. ProviCost distinguishes between capabilities working today, capabilities under active development and the broader platform direction.

Working today: Mobile StockTake

StockTake is ProviCost’s deepest current operator workflow. Authorised operators can recover assigned work, count stock by location, search the local stock catalogue, record quantities using the governed inventory unit of measure, confirm empty stock and capture unexpected stock.

The mobile workflow is designed for the reality of factory-floor connectivity. Counting evidence can be preserved locally when connectivity is interrupted, resumed after interruption and submitted safely when communication is restored.

The governed foundation underneath it

ProviCost already has working platform foundations for authenticated access, roles and permissions, auditability, governed Stock Items and inventory units of measure, inventory transactions and ledger evidence.

The important capability is not the screen. It is the evidence the screen creates. Operational information is captured as governed business evidence that other capabilities can later connect and use.

Under active development

Receiving and Purchasing already have substantial platform, service and workflow implementation. The current development work is bringing that depth together into complete production operator journeys.

Mobile Receiving

Receiving is being developed around what happens when produce physically arrives: expected and unplanned receipts, quantities and units of measure, quality evidence, temperature and inspection evidence, management decisions, Holds and rejected material, receiving lots and Put-Away.

The underlying services and evidence model are substantial. The complete production operator journey and its end-to-end inventory consequence remain under development.

Mobile Purchasing

Purchasing is being developed around the buyer’s real working day: purchase requirements, buyer actions, suppliers, quantities, units of measure and price, authority and approvals, exceptions, purchasing evidence and the relationship between what was purchased and what Receiving expects to arrive.

Purchasing is currently under active development. It should not yet be treated as a completed ProviCost capability.

The operation is connected. Its information should be too.

This is the broader platform direction, not a delivery timetable. The aim is to preserve the meaning of what happened at each stage and make that evidence available to the parts of the business that depend on it.

Purchasing → Receiving

Expectation → physical reality.

Purchase requirements and buying decisions establish expectation. Receiving establishes the physical reality and the evidence around it.

Inventory & Storage → Material Issue

Stock on hand → governed movement.

Inventory evidence connects the physical location of stock with the governed movement of material to its next operational destination.

Production → Packaging & Dispatch

Material consumed → saleable output.

As the platform develops, downstream evidence can connect material use, output, yield, waste, traceability, cost and the finished movement of product.

Built on governed operational evidence

Connection should not blur responsibility. Each operational capability retains ownership of the authoritative business evidence it creates. The platform can connect that evidence while preserving where it came from, who acted and what followed.

Authoritative ownership

Business evidence has a defined operational owner. Downstream processes can use it without redefining or duplicating it.

Traceable audit history

Transactions, observations and governed decisions preserve the history needed to understand what happened, who acted and what followed.

Governed authority

Where observation and decision are different responsibilities, the authorised decision and its context can remain part of the evidence.

SQF-aware by design

Relevant SQF requirements influence how ProviCost is being engineered for traceability, audit history, governed procedures and operational evidence. ProviCost is not SQF certified, does not guarantee SQF compliance and does not replace a processor’s food-safety programme or certification responsibilities.

Designed around the work, not around the software

ProviCost starts with how fresh produce processing actually works. The aim is not to force an operation to conform to generic software processes, but to improve the flow of information between the people doing the work and the people making decisions.

Designed around decision making

The operational record matters because decisions depend on context: what arrived, what changed, what was accepted or held, where stock went, who made the decision and what happened next.
